feminYIN tv ep. 36 de Cristina Simincianu. foto credit Valentin Matache; www.evfphoto.ro First time I realised I am white was when I saw this photo taken at Vama Veche Salsa Week back in summer 2011. I never thought of me in terms of white or other color, because until then I did not meet any black people in person, I knew they existed, but have not been so close to one. Until this guy invited me to dance. I was a a beginner in the dance scene, taking baby steps on the dance floor and he was an amazing cha-cha-cha dancer. And not only cha-cha-cha, I've learned the first steps of kizomba from him. Dance found it's way into my heart not just by going to some evening salsa classes, but rather by attending various social dance events. I did not go from the beginning, to bigger events and now, as I look back, I wish I would have started dancing earlier and attended even more events than I did. I have learned far more about dance and following a lead being on the dance floor , than being in a class surrounded by a bunch of really shy people, really not feeling comfortable to express themselves through dance moves. The same year at the end at October I went to Borovets Salsa Festival, just on time for my birthday celebration. Met more people, danced for 3 nights and 3 days nonstop, Sweet memories! Actually I met some pretty amazing dancers around the world at that event. I fell in love with lamba zouk at that festival right on my birthday. One salsa festival led to another, here is my first Monaco Salsa festival back in 2012, which became by far, my favourite salsa event, I went back over there the following years several times, looking forward to my next Monaco Salsa Festival. And after a few months after my first Monaco Salsa Festival. Limburg followed, Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Paris to name just a few. (Still so many salsa events I did not make it so far, on my "to do list"., but that is for another story, for some other time). As I got more addicted to dance, other passions made their way in my life. My hunger for knowledge grew and I also started to travel to various courses and self development seminars. Opening up to new worlds, opening up to new possibilities Travelling to salsa events across Europe, travelling for self development courses and opening up to new experiences allow me to meet all sorts of people, from all walks of life and from all over the world and made a lot of friends from far away countries, from different background and all skin colors, from India to Cuba, to Brazil, Australia, to Japan, Curacao, Colombia, Morocco etc. You name a a country, I know somebody dancing there. (Even I have not been in that country just yet). I do not remember who took this photo in order to give credit, it's been a while since . My first Monaco Salsa Festival back in March 2012 ,photo from personal archive I continuously looked for ways to expand my knowledge, increase my creativity, deepen my intuition and develop new skills. All these opened new worlds for me, I discovered like different Universes, they all enriched me and brought new perspectives to life. And at some point I photoread Rachael Jayne Groover's book : "Powerful and Feminine", found her online, starting to attend her online events back in 2012 and the more I listened to her, the more I was drawn to her and finally in 2014, I attended a live training by The North Sea with her. Not only I attended a seminar for myself, but I've made a commitment to share this work and really support women, in my country, back home, and worldwide. I decided it to start with my own home town, since I live most o the time here in Bucharest, this was the perfect place to start. And my first introduction in Art of Feminine Presence held by me, happened in November 2014, followed by a three months long seminar. For three month, every week, I and a group of women gathered to connect with our feminine essence in a safe place, to harness and express our femininity fully in our world. photo taken by Datta Groover , Zandvoort June, 2014 But this article and this episode is not all about me and my passion for dance, self-development courses and spirituality. This is about you and me. This is about the world we live in today. In this episode I am talking about what is going on around us, what is the root of all the things we do not like but still see happening all around us, worldwide, what is causing it and how we can put a stop to it. This episode is not about "Dance your way around the world" life motto! But rather it is on some sensitive, more than delicate issues we see unfolding in front of our eyes. This is not the usual talk about conscious femininity. This is not a flower-power, dance all day long video even though I do talk about dance as part of my life experience, one part of my life. In this episode I will talk about some really disturbing and upsetting events that occurred lately in our world and I share what is necessary to do to be part of the solution Long introduction for a longer English spoken episode of feminYIN tv I do not want to go into a debate on USA politics, or racism, or discuss the amount of injustice , poverty and human misery.
